Our Story
Our story began with Krissy Dufala, a TINY 6-year-old girl with a BIG heart. She saw how happy the orphans were as they enjoyed cake and ice cream that she and her parents brought during her first return visit to her orphanage in the Philippines. She thought of how easy it is for her back home to reach into the freezer and enjoy some ice cream. So, she made a promise to give them cake and ice cream again and again. Soon after returning home, she launched the Sweets for the Holidays campaign. She and her second-grade classmates quickly raised funds to fulfill her promise. The success inspired her to fund sweets parties for more orphanages. The idea caught fire! Before long, parties full of SWEETS and TREATS were enjoyed by orphans around the world. The success of the Sweets for the Holidays Campaign inspired this child philanthropist to do more. She founded the Kids Rise Inspire Soar Charitable Foundation (KRIS Foundation) and her work expanded quickly — orphanage playgrounds (Happy Play-ces project) rose up; overseas mission teams (Lift Up the Orphans biennial trips) formed and served abroad, and an orphanage campus (KRIS Campus) in the Philippines came to life. Krissy continues to inspire people from all walks of life to embrace the cause of helping others.
