Ground Breaking!
KRIS Campus Groundbreaking – a major milestone achieved! On July 5th, 2017, the Lift Up the Orphans (LUTO) Team composed of KRIS Board representatives and volunteers made its way to Bacolod, Philippines to break ground for the KRIS Orphanage Campus. It was a phenomenal event! Over 100 people were in attendance, including local dignitaries, elected government officials and other distinguished guests who commit ted their utmost support for the orphanage build project.
Following the groundbreaking, the LUTO team put in some sweat equity, building part of the perimeter wall by the entrance gate where the KRIS Campus name will be displayed. Digging in hard an d rocky, clay soil, using only manual tools in extremely high humid conditions, is no easy task. But the help afforded by local KR IS volunteers who came from all over the Philippines made the job easier. It was a very rewarding experience!

Other LUTO mission team activities included:
Medical and dental mission – free health check-up, consultations, minor surgeries, free medicines, vitamins, clothes and shoes. 300+ people were served in the community where the orphanage will rise.
Orphan age visits – coming face-to-face with orphans is always a joyful occasion for the LUTO team. Sweets, rice, shoes, clothes and toys bring smiles to the childre n and orphanage staff.
